What Is Power Pilates?

Differing from our usual Pilates Equipment classes, Power Pilates is set up like a circuit to give you a high-intensity workout, while still remembering your core, centering, posture and form from your more traditional Pilates approach.

Have you ever injured yourself from pushing your workout too hard? Power Pilates creates an environment to minimise the chance of injury by reminding you of your core and posture while you work out.

If you’re new to Pilates, we recommended you have a pre-class assessment. Most people benefit from attending our mat classes and equipment classes for 4 -6 weeks to get your form and technique tip top before jumping in the deep end and starting Power Pilates.

What muscles am I working in a Power Pilates class?

Your deep core is made up of your transversus abdominus, multifidus, pelvic floor and diaphragm. These are the muscles you would use in a normal Pilates class. We bring in a small amount of rectus abominus, internal oblique, external oblique, gluteus medius and gluteus maximus in our standard Pilates classes as well. However, as these muscles are fast-twitch, they respond best to being pushed in a fast-twitch way.  Therefore, the high-intensity workout the Power Pilates class brings, will work both your deeper core and your outer muscles.

What do I bring to my Power Pilates class?
